Kenya is located on the East Coast of Africa, with the
Equator running almost straight through the middle of the country. It
lies within latitude of 50 North and 400 South on one hand and 340 East
longitudes. It has an area of 582.644 sq.kms. (224,900 sq.miles) of
which 45,240 Sq.Kms (7.8 per cent) is under wildlife conservation
sanctuaries(National Parks and National Reserves).
The country’s altitude ranging from sea level to 5.199
metres makes its climate very greatly from high humid temperatures of
the Coast (830F) to the often cold and wet regions in the country. With
the Equator transversing the country, there are only two rain seasons-
the long rains from October through to December. Sunshine is experienced
thought the year although it becomes cooler during the months of June,
July and August.
